exploring Queen Anne

The view from kerry park overview a short work from vista West

Seattle Vista West is located on the west side of Queen Anne. This is a wonderful neighborhood to explore, with great coffee shops, parks and restaurants, as well as close proximity to other great neighborhoods like Fremont, Ballard, Belltown, and South Lake Union. Our location is on the crown of Queen Anne Hill, just across the street from a famous elevated walkway designed by famous American Landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted architects (also famous for designing Central Park in New York City).

You will certainly want to take a walk to Kerry Park and back – just go up to the top half of 8th Ave West across the street from our house and take a right turn. Follow 8th as it curves around the corner at the Betty Bowen Viewpoint, check out the sweet Parsons Gardens diagonally across, and continue on to the Kerry Park overlook (the spot for the classic Space Needle/Mt. Rainer postcard shot) for beautiful views of the Olympic Peninsula, Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, and downtown Seattle.

Walking/Running – Seattle Vista West is located on a popular 3-mile loop known as “The Crown of Queen Anne.” Start on top half of 8th Avenue and follow 8th to as it curves around to become Highland Dr., and then crosses Queen Anne Ave and continues to curve onto Bigelow. A couple of other good local options, if you have more time, would be a) to drive a few minutes north to Green Lake, which is a reservoir with a very nice jogging path very popular among locals, or b) to hike/jog the Discovery Park loop trail beginning in the Discovery Park Visitor Center lot in Magnolia.
